My name is Ioana Grecu, I was born in 1981 on March 5th in Bucharest, Romania.
When I was a child I was infatuated with music, I would sing everywhere and anytime but my artistic carier ended around the time when my dad told me I have the musical ear of an elephant.
My dad was also the person who pointed me on the way of photography, he used to process his films in our small family bathroom.
Art was around me all the time in my childhood, my dad paints, sings, photographs, my mom is an exquisit cleaning artist, this means my house is always beautiful.
I had a few old cameras waiting me, most of them from the former USSR, Smena and Zorki and an Italian camera. That's how I learned the technical basics.
Then digital photography appeared and I switched to the Canon 20d that I own at the moment with a few lenses, 24-70 L with f2.8 being my favorite.
I started shooting images as a hobby and as an expression of my artistic self.
Then I thought I can make some money from my images and microstock seemed like a good choice with a large pool of clients so now I shoot both artsy and stock images, depending on my mood.
It's good to have an income that allows you to improve your gear.
But what I consider the most important asset of a photographer is the soul, you can't express anything without it.
Although I have a degree in Accounting and Audit I got tired of it at some point, too many things to do and just me to do them was not my cup of tea. In 2005 I got a proposal to work as an editor for Dreamstime.com, one of the main microstock competitors out there, the second on the market, in fact, and I took it. I could say that it was a wise choice because I have come a long way since then, I am not just an editor now, I work with people, I have seen over 1 000 000 images in 3 years and have learned that many stories.
I can also say that even the thing you like the most can get boring sometimes and can be nerve breaking but it's also a joy.
Enjoy my site, Visitor, I hope it brought a smile into your day or night.
When did your passion for light appear? Probably when you poped out and started crying. World is a strange place but we always like the light. Why not record it?
